Program Description:
Managed by the CES Lab, the CES internship program is designed to provide academic learning experience for high school, undergraduate and graduate students around the world. It offers tailored professional training based on the student’s academic or career interests, especially in the field of economics and business. This internship program will provide the students hands-on experience in utilizing open-source tools, workflow technology, big data, economic modeling, and their applications across different fields, including business, economics, and social studies. The internship gives a student the opportunity to familiarize the entire cycle of academic research, gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies and applications of such technologies and cutting-edge research in the real world of economy and businesses, explore career directions while develop technical skills and leadership abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Test the open-source tools for business, economic, and social data analysis developed by the CES Lab.
- Conduct literature reviews and develop research methods on selected topics
- Assist in developing curriculum and materials for teaching and training in business, economic, and social data science.
- Assist in applying statistical analysis, workflow techniques, and AI models to assigned projects.
- Contribute to the preparation of written reports and presentations of the projects.
- Collaborate with the team to design/develop case studies using open-source tools, open data, and AI models.
- Support the team in collecting, organizing, preprocessing data, and conducting data to ensure data quality for data training and analysis.
- Participate in the training workshop organized by the CES Lab and participate in discussions to provide insights, share progress, and propose innovative ideas for the projects.
- Support the team in other related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a current high school or college/university program(s).
- Strong interest in business, economic, and social research, big data analysis, workflow technology, AI models, as well as their applications across different fields.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (such as SAS and STATA) and programming languages (such as Python) is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to contribute to research, modeling, and AI model implementation activities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey ideas and contribute to team discussions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team of diverse backgrounds and skills, manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.
- Strong passion for acquiring new skills and knowledge in the realm of business, economic, and social analysis and models.
