Dear CES Members and Friends: As the President of the Chinese Economists Society (CES) (https://www.china-ces.org/) for 2018-2019, first please let me congratulate and thank Dr. Adam Chen and his Board of Directors for a successful and fruitful year! In the meantime, I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new leadership team (Ying Fang, Zhongjiao Lin, Xiaoguang Ni, Weiguo Wang, Jianbo Zhang and Tao Zha) who take office on September 1, 2018. The new leadership team would like to continue the CES’s flagship programs such as the CES China Annual conference, Presidents’ Forum, CES North America meeting, CES/AEA joint sessions and Reception/Business Meeting at the ASSA conference, Gregory-Paula Chow Teaching Fellowship, and Gregory-Paula Chow Best Paper Awards. In addition, we plan to create an ad hoc Committee on Professional Development to facilitate career development and mentoring for CES members at different career stages. Below please find a list of our proposed events and activities in details; please mark these dates on your calendar! - 2019 CES Reception/Business Meeting (6-8pm of January 5 at Rooms 209-211 of Hilton Hotel) at the ASSA conference in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, January, 4-6, 2019 (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday). (CES Role: Organizer). - CES 2019 North-America conference in Lawrence, Kansas, USA, April 6-7, 2018 (Saturday and Sunday). (CES Role: Co-Organizer, joint with *University of Kansas) - CES 2019 Presidents’ Forum* to be held in Dalian, China, June 6-7, 2019 (Thursday and Friday). (CES Role: Co-Organizer; joint with *Dongbei University of Finance and Economics). - CES 2019 China Annual Conference* to be held in Dalian, China, June 8-9, 2019 (Saturday and Sunday). (CES Role: Organizer; joint with *Dongbei University of Finance and Economics). - Selection for 2020 CES/AEA joint sessions* at the ASSA meeting in San Diego, CA, USA, January 3-5, 20120 (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday). (CES Role: Organizer). More details of these meetings and events will be announced later.
