Dear CES Members:
It is time to elect a new CES President-Elect and six members of the Board of Directors. The President-Elect will assume presidency from September 1, 2027 to August 31, 2028. The Board of Directors will work with the next President, Professor Shuqin Ge, and will assume office from September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027.
The CES Nomination and Election Committee (NEC) consists of the three most recent past presidents (voting members), along with the current president and president-elect (non-voting members).
The NEC oversees the nomination and election process, which proceeds as follows:
(1) President-Elect Eligibility: A candidate must have been a CES member for more than two years, served at least one term on the Board of Directors, and work primarily in North America during the presidential term.
(2) Board of Directors Eligibility: Anyone with valid CES membership can be nominated to serve as a board director. The majority of board members must also work primarily in North America during their term.
(3) Nomination Process: Each CES member may nominate one candidate for President-Elect and up to six candidates for the Board of Directors. The nominator must have the consent of the nominee for the nomination and should provide bio information on all candidates nominated. Any candidate on the ballot for the election must be nominated by at least two CES members.
If you are interested in serving the CES community, or wish to nominate someone who is qualified and willing to serve, please contact me at susanfeng.lu@utotonto.ca. All nominations must be received by Aug 20, 2026.
Each nominee is required to submit:
• A bio-statement (max 300 words), and
• A personal statement (max 300 words)
These materials will be reviewed and presented by the NEC to the CES membership for consideration.
For more details about the roles and responsibilities of the CES President and Board of Directors, please refer to the CES Bylaws at www.china-ces.org.
We strongly encourage all members to participate in the election. Your active involvement is vital to the continued success of CES.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Susan Lu, University of Toronto, President (2024-2025) of CES, Voting Member
