CES Business Meeting and Reception at 2024 ASSA Annual Conference

The Chinese Economists Society (CES) successfully held a reception and business meeting during the ASSA annual conference on January 6, 2024, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Room 224, in San Antonio, Texas.  With over 250 attendees, the event marked a significant gathering of CES members and friends.  The meeting featured both in-person and online presentations by representatives from 9 distinguished universities, aiming to engage young academics and talents with their programs.  Our CES institutional members participating includes:

Board Directors Dr. Yonghong An (Texas A&M University) and Dr. Yang Jiao (Texas A&M - Texarkana University) efficiently hosted the Business Meeting and the subsequent reception.  CES President, Dr. Carl Lin (Bucknell University), highlighted the initiatives of the 2023-2024 leadership team.  Key announcements included the 2024 CES North America Conference in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on March 30-31, 2024; the CES-Hefei University of Technology Joint-Workshop on Digital Economy; the CES Presidents’ Forum at Nanjing University of Finance and Economics in Nanjing on July 4, 2024; the CES Annual China Conference at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou on July 6-7, 2024; and the CES Taiwan Visit.

In addition, Board Director Dr. Yang Jiao introduced the audience to the Chow Teaching Fellowship and the Best Paper Award programs, highlighting opportunities for recognition and professional growth. The evening concluded with a post-event dinner, which was honored by the presence of Professor Justin Yifu Lin (Peking University) who expressed his support by interacting with young scholars after hosting the CES organized sessions at ASSA/AEA conference.

      This meeting underscored CES's dedication to enhancing the academic and professional development of its members and strengthening the network of economists connected to China.
