The CES 2006 annual conference was sucessfully held in Shanghai from July 2 to 4, 2006. The conference was co-hosted by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SHUFE)and the China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong (CELAP). About 400 scholars attended the conference. There was a total of about 6 round table panels and 38 sessions at the conference. Xiaobo Zhang (the CES president), Min Tan (the President of SHUFE), Jieren Xi (the executive dean of CELAP), and Guoqin Feng (the deputy mayor of Shanghai) speaked at the opening. Jiwei Lou (the deputy minister of the Ministry of Finance), Xiwen Che (the director of Office for Rural Work Leading Group of the State Council), Xiaohua Qiu (the Director of the National Bureau of Statistics), and James A. Mirrlees (a laureate of 2004 Nobel Prize in Economy) gave the keynote speeches at the openning.
