Established as Dongbei College of Finance & Economics in 1952, the college was reorganized in 1958 and 1959. In September 1985, it was officially renamed Dongbei University of Finance & Economics (DUFE). DUFE is one of the oldest universities of finance & economics in China. It was under the authority of the Ministry of Finance for 21 years until 2000, when the Education Department of Liaoning Province took over its administration, in response to the central government’s education reformation policies. After decades of development and reformation, it is now a multidisciplinary teaching and research institution with academic programs focusing on economics, management, law, liberal arts and science.
